The Story Bank occupies the former bank building on the site where P. L. Travers, author of Mary Poppins, was born. It mixes local history with playful exhibits about storytelling, childhood, and the making of the Mary Poppins character.
It is stronger than the town's umbrella-themed street furniture suggests. Go in expecting a small, imaginative literary museum rather than a Disney shrine, and it becomes one of Maryborough's most distinctive stops.
