Beerenberg Farm has been producing strawberries and small-batch jams, sauces, and relishes in the Adelaide Hills since 1971, and the farm shop is now a mandatory stop on the Hahndorf circuit. From November through April the farm opens its strawberry fields for pick-your-own, which draws families from Adelaide most weekends. The strawberries grown in the cool Hills microclimate are noticeably sweeter and firmer than commercial varieties.
The farm shop stocks the full range of Beerenberg products — over 60 varieties of jam, chutney, sauce, and condiment, all made on the property. The Barossa Mustard and the Quince Paste are the picks of the savoury range. This is genuinely good produce rather than tourist souvenir fare, and the prices are reasonable compared to similar products in Adelaide's food halls.
