A small family-owned winery on the edge of Hahndorf, one of the better cellar door experiences in the Adelaide Hills. The winery specialises in wines made from Austrian grape varieties — Grüner Veltliner and Blaufränkisch — which thrive in the cooler Adelaide Hills climate and offer something genuinely different from the usual Barossa Shiraz trail. The tasting room is relaxed and the views across the valley are good.
The winery won Australia's Best Small Winery award at the National Wine Show, which is remarkable for a boutique operation. They do not make large quantities, so the rare varieties especially sell quickly. Walk here from the main street in about 10 minutes or drive in a couple. Open daily for tastings.
