Wadlata Outback Centre is Port Augusta's main indoor attraction and the best first stop if you are heading deeper into South Australia. Its Tunnel of Time exhibit covers the geology, Aboriginal history, explorers, railways, pastoral runs, and mining routes that shaped the inland.
The same complex works as the visitor information centre, so it is practical as well as interesting. Give it more time than a quick brochure stop, especially if this is your first journey into the Australian interior.
