Port Germein Jetty

Port Germein Jetty is the town's reason to exist as a travel stop. Built for an extremely shallow coast, it was once long enough for sailing ships loading wheat and is still South Australia's longest wooden jetty after later storm damage and repairs.

The walk is the point. At low tide you see just how far the sand and mudflats run before deep water; at higher tide the jetty becomes a fishing and crabbing platform. Check local access before setting out, as storm repairs and safety work can affect how much of the structure is open.
