Paringa Bridge is a practical piece of river engineering with more theatre than most road crossings. Opened in 1927, it carries the Sturt Highway over the Murray and has a vertical-lift span that is still raised for larger boats.
The bridge is best seen as part of a short river loop from Renmark. Walk the central shared path if traffic is calm, or time a visit for a scheduled lift and watch the road briefly give way to the river.
