Murphy's Haystacks

Murphy's Haystacks are pink granite inselbergs standing on a rise between Streaky Bay and Port Kenny. The rocks are ancient, rounded, and oddly domestic-looking from a distance, which is how they got the haystack name.

Up close they are stranger and better: smooth domes, overhangs, and narrow passages shaped by long weathering. The stop is short, but sunset can turn the granite a deep warm colour and make the detour feel much larger than it looks on the map.
