Lake Benalla gives the town its easiest stroll. Paths run around the water and through the botanic gardens, with the art gallery on one edge and birdlife in the shallows.
It is not wilderness, and it does not need to be. The lake is where Benalla becomes pleasant rather than merely useful: a place to stretch your legs, cool down, and connect the gallery with the rest of the town.
