Royal Cave is the easier of Buchan's two main show caves, with broad chambers, lit passages, and the calcite-rimmed pools that make the reserve famous. The guided tour gives enough geology to make sense of the formations without turning the visit into a classroom.
It is the better first choice if you only have time for one cave or prefer fewer tight passages. Bookings are usually required before you arrive at the reserve.
