London Bridge

Offshore limestone arch, famously isolated when part of the bridge collapsed.

London Bridge is a reminder that the Great Ocean Road's scenery is not fixed. The arch once connected to the mainland; now it stands offshore after a sudden collapse reshaped it in minutes.

The viewpoint is straightforward and usually less frantic than the Twelve Apostles platforms. It is especially good late in the day, when the low light catches the arch and the surrounding cliffs.

A story
London Bridge partly collapsed without warning in 1990, leaving two visitors stranded on the new offshore stack until they were rescued by helicopter. No one was hurt, but it made the coast's instability impossible to ignore.
