Heathcote's wine region is the town's main grown-up pleasure. The local reputation rests on shiraz: dark, generous wines from old Cambrian soils and a warm, dry climate.
You do not need to be a collector to enjoy it. Start with the in-town wine hub or visitor centre advice, then choose a couple of cellar doors rather than trying to cover the whole region.
