Government House

Melbourne's Government House is the official residence of the Governor of Victoria, set beside the Royal Botanic Gardens. The Italianate house opened in 1876 and briefly served as the residence of Australia's governor-general before federal power settled in Canberra. Public tours are limited, so it is worth planning ahead if you want to see more than the grounds and exterior.
