Queenscliffe Maritime Museum gives the town's sea stories a useful centre. The collection covers pilot boats, lifeboats, fishing, shipwrecks, and the practical work of getting vessels safely through the heads.
It is a good first stop if the fort tours do not line up with your timing. Afterward, walk the nearby harbour and pier, where the museum's stories make the working waterfront easier to read.
