The Goldfields Exhibition Museum is the best single stop in Coolgardie. It occupies the old Warden's Court, built in 1898 when the town still had the swagger of a gold capital, and fills its rooms with mining equipment, photographs, Aboriginal artefacts, pharmacy displays, and the Waghorn bottle collection.
It is exactly the kind of museum that works in a small mining town: specific, local, and full of objects that explain how hard and strange life could be when thousands of people chased gold into the desert.
