A vast, free, community-built playground in the middle of town that has saved the sanity of countless families on the long drive between Perth and Margaret River. It was built in 2005 by some 1,800 volunteers over a single week, and it shows — every part of it has been thought about by someone who has spent time with bored children. There are wooden castles, slides set into a hill, a flying fox, swings of every conceivable design, sandpits, and shaded picnic tables for the parents.
The park is open all hours and there is no admission charge. It sits beside the South Western Highway, so it is impossible to miss. Toilets, water, and a coffee van during the day. Allow at least an hour, more if your children are under ten.
