Donnybrook Stone Heritage Walk

Short walk past 19th-century sandstone buildings on Bentley Street

Bentley Street has a short stretch of nineteenth-century buildings cut from the local Donnybrook sandstone — a warm honey-coloured stone that was quarried just outside town and shipped to Perth, where it ended up in the General Post Office, the old Treasury, and dozens of other public buildings. A small interpretive walk picks out half a dozen of the surviving stone buildings (the old courthouse, the railway station, several shopfronts) with plaques explaining what they were and where the stone came from.

The walk takes maybe twenty minutes. Pick up the printed pamphlet at the visitor centre in the old railway station at the bottom of the main street.
