Old Telegraph Station

Eucla's old telegraph station is the sight that makes the stop worthwhile. The stone walls are partly filled with white dunes, all that is left of the settlement that grew around the 1877 repeater station on the Perth-Adelaide telegraph line.

The setting is better than the ruin alone: sand, scrub, silence, and the Southern Ocean just over the dunes. Come early or late if you can, when the light gives the place more shape.
