Cemetery Beach is part of the beach strip north of town and one of Port Hedland's most important turtle areas. Flatback turtles nest here from roughly November to January, with hatchlings emerging into the early months of the year.
If you visit in season, treat the beach as a wildlife site rather than just a place to wander. Stay off nests, keep lights low, and follow any local closures or volunteer instructions. Outside turtle season, it is still a useful coastal walk close to town.
