Newcastle Gaol Museum

Old gaol museum focused on Toodyay's convict-era past and bushranger Moondyne Joe.

Newcastle Gaol Museum is Toodyay's strongest sight, housed in the old nineteenth-century lock-up and police precinct. The museum covers colonial policing, local settlement, and the story of Moondyne Joe, the bushranger whose escapes made him part of Western Australian folklore.

The cells, stables, carts, and period objects keep the visit grounded. It is small enough for an hour, but specific enough to make Toodyay feel like more than another pretty country town.
