There are no direct international flights to Aitutaki. All air arrivals come via Rarotonga on Air Rarotonga, which operates several flights daily. The flight takes around 45 minutes and the views on approach — the triangular main island ringed by its turquoise lagoon — are themselves worth the trip. Book ahead during peak season (July–August), when seats fill quickly. The small Aitutaki Airport sits on the northern end of the main island, a short taxi or transfer ride from most accommodation.
Some cruise ships include Aitutaki on Pacific itineraries and tender passengers ashore at Arutanga harbour for a day visit. If you're arriving by sea, check your ship's schedule carefully — a single day is enough to take the lagoon cruise or visit a motu beach, but just barely. The weekly inter-island cargo ferry from Rarotonga also serves Aitutaki, though it is primarily a freight service and not a comfortable or reliable option for travellers.
