Asan Bay Overlook

Asan Bay Overlook sits on the hillside above the village, with a wide view over Asan Beach, Apra Harbor, and the western coast. The site has memorial walls, sculptural elements, and interpretive panels that set the 1944 landings in context.

Come here after visiting the beach, not before. From above, you can see how exposed the landing area was and how quickly the terrain rises inland. The overlook is also one of the better sunset viewpoints near Hagåtña, though the mood remains reflective rather than casual.

A story
The overlook compresses the Battle of Guam into a single view: reef, beach, village, and ridge. It is one of the rare places where the tactical problem of the 1944 landing becomes immediately visible without much explanation.
