Nga Tapuwae o Toi is the coastal walkway linking Whakatane, Kohi Point, Ohope, and patches of native forest. The route climbs quickly from town to headland views, then keeps shifting between sea, bush, and historic pa sites.
You can walk shorter sections if the full loop is too much. The best reward is the view out toward Moutohora and, on clear days, the active volcanic cone of Whakaari / White Island.
