Ngarunui Beach is the broad black-sand beach west of town, with room for swimming, beginner surf lessons, and long walks under the cliffs. It is the forgiving beach in Raglan's surf lineup, though the sea is still exposed and deserves respect.
The beach is patrolled in summer. Outside the flags, conditions can change quickly, so treat it like a real west-coast beach rather than a sheltered bay.
