Te Whare Rā is one of Renwick's more personal cellar-door visits, a small organic producer on Anglesea Street rather than a large polished estate. It was established in 1979 and is now run with a strong hands-on, family-winery feel.
Do not just turn up and hope. Tastings are usually by arrangement, which suits the place: slower, smaller, and better when planned.
