Marfells Beach

Marfells Beach is a wild stretch of coast near the southern end of Lake Grassmere, reached by a side road from State Highway 1. It is safer for swimming than much of this exposed coastline, though conditions still deserve respect.

The beach also gives access to a coastal walk toward Cape Campbell lighthouse. Check the tide before setting out, bring water, and do not expect much in the way of services beyond the Department of Conservation campsite.
