Steampunk HQ could only really make sense in Oamaru: a noisy, playful museum of recycled machinery, retro-futurist sculpture, lights, sound, and industrial oddity at the edge of the Victorian Precinct.
It is more workshop fantasy than formal museum, and that is the charm. The town's old limestone streets provide the period backdrop; Steampunk HQ supplies the smoke, brass, and strange inventions.
