The Old Ghost Road is an 85 km walking and mountain biking route through the Buller backcountry, following old gold-mining tracks between Lyell and Seddonville. It crosses forest, ridges, river valleys, and remote hut country.
This is a serious multi-day outing rather than a casual stroll. Plan ahead for huts or campsites, weather, transport at both ends, and the long stretches where you are far from services.
