Knights Point Lookout is a quick stop on the coast road north of Haast, but it earns its place. The viewpoint looks over a rugged run of Tasman Sea cliffs, forested headlands, and surf, with seal haul-outs sometimes visible below.
It is best in clear weather or after a storm front has moved through, when the light breaks over the water. Even in bad weather it gives a useful sense of how lonely this coast is.
