Honeycomb Hill Caves are the protected cave system in the Ōpārara Basin, known for limestone formations and fossil material, including moa bones. Public access is by guided tour only, which helps keep the caves from being loved to pieces.
Book ahead if the caves matter to your trip. The surrounding arches are easier to visit independently, but the caves add the deeper geological story.
