Coopers Beach is the easiest sand to fold into a Mangonui day. It sits below Rangikapiti Pa, close to shops and cafes, and has a sheltered bay feel rather than the wilder energy of the west coast.
Come after the heritage walk or the pa climb, when a swim or a barefoot walk makes better sense than chasing another minor sight.
