Rangikapiti Pa occupies the headland above Mangonui Harbour, and the view explains the site immediately. From the top you can see the harbour mouth, Coopers Beach, and the sweep of Doubtless Bay, with enough height to understand why the headland mattered.
The Department of Conservation assessment records terraces, earthworks, and strong Ngati Kahu associations here. Walk gently and stay on formed tracks; this is not just a lookout but an archaeological and cultural site.
