Pflindsberg Castle Ruins

The fragmentary stone remains of a small medieval castle on a wooded hilltop just south of the village, reached by a short signposted forest walk from the village centre. Built in the 13th century to control the salt trade routes, the castle was abandoned by the late Middle Ages and has been slowly returning to the forest ever since.

There is not much left — a few sections of wall, the stump of a tower — but the climb is rewarded with a postcard view of the lake and village laid out below. Free, always open, easily combined with a longer walk around the lake.
