The Drau Radweg (Drava cycle path) starts here in the Hochpustertal and runs more than 360 kilometres east through Carinthia and on into Slovenia. It is one of the major European river cycle routes and the upper section through the Hochpustertal is also the prettiest: forested slopes on both sides, rapids in the river, and the silhouette of the Dolomites to the south.
Most riders go downhill from the source area near Toblach in Italy through Sillian, Heinfels, and Lienz toward Spittal and beyond. Bike rentals are easy to find in Sillian and panniers can be sent ahead by hotel transfer.
