Twin medieval towers on the Leie, symbol of Kortrijk

The twin medieval towers on the Leie are the symbol of Kortrijk, and they are as impressive in person as they appear in photographs. Standing on the old stone bridge between them, you get the best view of the river and the city beyond. The towers are not always open to visitors inside, but the exterior and the riverbank are freely accessible at any time.

A story
The two towers were built two centuries apart — the southern Ingelburchtoren dates from the 12th century, the northern Speytorre from the 15th. They were the last survivors of a ring of towers that once defended the city walls along the Leie.
