Nesebar Archaeological Museum

The Archaeological Museum is the sensible first stop in old Nesebar, especially if the churches have started to blur together. Its displays cover ancient Mesembria, the Greek colony, Roman and Byzantine layers, and the medieval town that produced so many of the surviving churches.

The museum is not large, but it gives the peninsula depth. After seeing coins, inscriptions, icons, and architectural fragments, the stones outside feel less like picturesque ruins and more like pieces of a long urban story.
