The Sea Garden — Morska Gradina in Bulgarian, officially Primorski Park — is one of the best urban parks on the Black Sea coast. It runs for several kilometres along the seafront, a long ribbon of shade trees, open lawns, cafes, playgrounds, and cultural institutions. On summer evenings it fills with the entire population of Varna: families pushing prams, teenagers on benches, pensioners playing chess, and a fair number of tourists.
Within the park you'll find the Naval Museum, the Aquarium, the Zoo, an open-air theatre, the Festival and Congress Centre, and a handful of Soviet-era monuments including the enormous Monument of Bulgarian-Soviet Friendship on the hill above. The park's promenade connects to the central city beach. It's the kind of place you can spend several hours simply wandering — the seafront end has wide views over the Black Sea, and the park's interior is cooler and quieter than it appears from the main paths.
