Le Manoir Village

The cluster of stone cottages, the chapel, and the small estate office at the centre of Herm — the closest thing to a village on the island. The buildings date mostly from the 19th century, when Herm was the site of a granite quarry that supplied paving stones for London streets.

A small shop sells fresh bread, milk, the local Herm tea-towel and other modest souvenirs. Bicycles are no longer rented on the island; on Herm you walk. The harbour quay at the foot of the village fills up with the day-trip ferry crowd in mid-morning.
