Brela Beach

The village of Brela, 3 kilometres up the coast from Baška Voda, is home to what many consider the finest beach on the entire Makarska Riviera. The Punta Rata cove in particular — a small crescent of smooth pebbles framed by pine trees growing almost to the water's edge, with a distinctive rock pillar standing offshore — has the kind of Mediterranean perfection that ends up in travel photographs.

Brela has five beaches strung along its pine-forested coastline, each slightly different in character. Punta Rata consistently appears on lists of the best beaches in Europe. The walk between Baška Voda and Brela along the coastal path takes about 45 minutes and passes through fragrant pine forest the whole way, with the sea visible through the trees and several small swimming spots along the route.
