Prapratno Ferry to Korčula

Prapratno, about 5 km from Drače, is the departure point for ferries to Korčula — one of Croatia's most beautiful islands, with a walled medieval old town often compared to a smaller Dubrovnik. The crossing takes about 45 minutes and runs several times daily in summer, less frequently in winter. There is a small beach at Prapratno itself, used by locals and often quieter than the main Drače bay.

Korčula town is the main draw on the island: a Gothic-Renaissance ensemble of narrow lanes, towers, and churches on a small peninsula poking into the sea. Marco Polo is traditionally (if controversially) claimed as a native son, and his supposed birth house is marked. The island also produces a good white wine from the Grk grape. A day-trip to Korčula — ferry over for lunch and the old town, ferry back before dinner — is the best excursion from Drače.
