Church of SS. Cosmas and Damian

The main parish church of Fazana, built in the 15th century on the foundations of an earlier structure, dominates the small central square of the old town. The building is a straightforward example of Istrian Gothic-Renaissance — a style that distinguishes the coast from the more ornate churches of the Croatian interior. The bell tower is a landmark visible from the sea.

The interior contains some older fresco fragments and votive offerings from the fishing community. The church square is the natural gathering point of the village, shaded by a spreading tree and lined with a couple of outdoor cafe tables. On summer evenings this is where the whole town seems to converge.
