Gradac Beach

Gradac's beach is its primary attraction — a long arc of smooth grey-white pebbles backed by a screen of pine trees that provide shade through the hottest part of the day. The water is famously clear, turning from pale turquoise in the shallows to deep blue further out. A modest current of cooler water keeps it refreshing even in August.

The beach stretches further than most visitors walk — head south away from the town centre and within ten minutes you'll have the pebbles largely to yourself. The views across the channel toward the island of Hvar are a constant backdrop, and on calm evenings the mountains on the far shore seem close enough to touch.

A story
Gradac Beach is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as one of the longest shingle beaches on the Adriatic, stretching nearly six kilometres from the edge of town past the Brist village boundary. Despite the distinction, it remains far less crowded than the beaches around Makarska just to the north.
