The Cathedral of St Stephen anchors the eastern end of Pjaca, Hvar Town's grand main square, a long rectangle paved in white stone that opens onto the harbour. The cathedral is a Renaissance-Baroque hybrid: the bell tower from the late sixteenth century, the facade reworked in the seventeenth, the interior dim and richly furnished.
Inside, look for the 13th-century icon of Our Lady of Hvar, the carved choir stalls, and the small treasury (accessed separately) with reliquaries, manuscripts, and a 15th-century pastoral staff of carved bone and silver. Open mornings and late afternoons; visitors are asked to dress respectfully (shoulders and knees covered).
