Starigrad Fortress

The larger and older of the two fortresses above Omiš, Starigrad (Old Town Fortress) dates from the 15th century and sits on a higher ridge above the gorge. The climb is steeper than Mirabella and takes around 30–40 minutes, but the reward is proportional: from the highest point you can see the full sweep of the Cetina gorge cutting back into the karst limestone behind the coast, and on a clear day the islands off Split are visible to the northwest.

The fortress is more ruined than Mirabella, and less visited — which, in summer, is its main virtue. Bring water and wear shoes with grip.
