Vrboska Harbour and Inlet

The defining feature of Vrboska is its inlet — a narrow channel that cuts a kilometre into the island, dividing the village into two halves connected by three stone bridges. The fishermen's boats moored along the quays, the houses rising directly from the water on both sides, and the way the channel narrows and turns have earned the village its nickname, Little Venice, though the comparison flatters both places for different reasons.

The inner harbour is quiet and genuinely working — fishing nets draped over quayside walls, small boats coming and going in the mornings, cats watching the water. The stone bridge nearest the sea, the Mala Mosta, is the oldest and the best spot to look back along the inlet toward the fortified church. The outer harbour has a fish restaurant or two and a small shaded square that fills with villagers in the evening.
