Cheb Castle

Ruined imperial castle with the Black Tower and one of Bohemia's major Romanesque chapels.

Cheb Castle is mostly ruin now, but it still has the gravity of an imperial stronghold. The Black Tower gives the site its hard outline, while the Romanesque chapel is the real prize.

It is the best place in Cheb to feel the town's older borderland power. Go before or after the square, when the shift from merchant town to fortress is easiest to read.
