The Municipal Power Station began as a mill and waterworks before being converted to hydroelectric use in 1888. It made Písek one of the first Bohemian towns with permanent public electric lighting.
Today it works as a small museum of lighting and electrical history. It is a niche stop, but a good one: close to the centre, specific to Písek, and more memorable than another generic town museum.
