Písek Castle is fragmentary, but what remains is enough to connect the town to its medieval royal-city past. The Prácheň Museum inside covers local history, archaeology, and the region around the Otava.
It is most useful as context after the bridge. The preserved Gothic hall and town-history exhibits help explain why this quiet place once mattered on the route between Bohemia and the south.
