Kotnov Tower is the main survivor of Tábor's castle, much of which disappeared after fire, rebuilding, and the growth of the neighbouring brewery. The adjoining Bechyně Gate is the only preserved town gate and still makes the western approach to the old centre feel fortified.
Climb the tower if it is open. The view over the red roofs, church tower, river valley, and surrounding countryside is the best quick way to understand why Tábor was placed here.
