Vidoy is a beautiful island in the northern Faroe Islands, reached by causeway from Bordoy. The road ends at the village of Viðareiði, beyond which a mountainous cirque blocks the way to the island's tip.
The peninsula at the end is narrow enough to walk across easily, giving views on both sides. The western coast looks out toward Svinoy and Fugloy, reached by ferry from the larger village of Havnssund near the Bordoy causeway — the waves here are impressive even on a calm day. The eastern coast is more sheltered and contains the village church, which holds a silver plate donated by the British government in the 19th century as thanks for the community's care of sailors rescued from a wreck.
Viðareiði has a hotel and a restaurant.
