Kökar Museum is housed in a former schoolhouse and covers the practical life of the island: seal hunting, boats, tools, houses, and the ordinary work of surviving in the outer archipelago. Several small historic buildings stand on the museum grounds.
It is not a large museum, but it gives useful context before you walk the trails or visit Otterböte. Kökar makes more sense when you understand how seasonal and sea-bound life here has been.
